crap microwaveI bought this replacement microwave oven 10 months ago. I only selected it because the size, trim and mounting were consistent (Panasonic model) so I would not have to do a whole scale replacement of the oven and trim etc.Well, 10 months later it does not work. Error H97. I have to take it to a certified repair outlet. *groan* time, effort, inconvenience and although it is withing the tiny 1 year warranty period, experience tells me this will cost me money. I will be surprised if it doesn’t. good money after bad? depending on cost I may walk away from the Panasonic. Nobody needs these headaches.

I purchased this one to replace another Panasonic Inverter which only lasted 7 months before the door latch button gave in under normal usage (no slamming or abuse) and I was not happy. However, I’ve owned another Panasonic Inverter years ago and loved it, and after reading the review regarding a sturdier button and latch, I decided to give this one a try. It arrived in excellent order, packaged nicely and incredibly quickly. It installed into my built-in cabinet just as the previous one and was operational in about 5 minutes I have to say that the latch button seems sturdy and opens the door much more smoothly than the last one and the appliance looks very nice as well. It will take a little getting used to the timer knob, but I knew that coming in, so it was no surprise. The quick startup guide was helpful in setting it up. Unfortunately, though, I am assuming that if the power goes out, when it comes back on, I will have to reprogram it, it having the guide handy will make it easier for the rare times the power does fail. All in all, I would say this microwave is built well, performs excellently and I love the brightness of the interior light. It seems to be a great improvement from the previous one I had and I’m glad I gave Panasonic another chance. In my opinion, no other microwave performs as good as the Inverter at this price range.

I’ve loved this Panasonic microwave from day one. So many wonderful features and presets. Everything I’ve prepared in it was perfection. Worked flawlessly until three months ago the bottom where the turntable ring sets in rusted. It’s becoming worse. Not the environment I chose to cook my food in. No way to repair this problem. So very disappointed in Panasonic as I’ve been a fan for years. Bought this three years ago and had expected for the near $300 price tag it would have lasted much longer. Do I dare buy another????

My old microwave just gave up! This brand and type had been recommended to me as very dependable.I have only had it for a few weeks, but it is working great so far and I just have to get use to all the additional functions it has on it. But great so far!

Usually when you need a new microwave, you need it NOW! I poured over many options and the value of this one seemed decent, with good reviews. It DOES work perfectly, and I like the sensor feature very much. Still getting to know that one. The larger size (larger than my last one) is nice and, at the same time, it takes up more room on my counter (duh!). While it’s larger, it isn’t taller. Feels slightly cramped on the inside height-wise, but seems good enough. The white is very clean looking. Overall, great mid-priced microwave. With my old Cuisinart, that only lived 4 years!, I got very used to using the feature where you can just press ONE button and cook for up to 6 minutes. Very convenient! This doesn’t do that. (See update below!) To enter a specific time you have to press all the numbers plus the start button — 600 for 6 minutes. Shouldn’t be a big deal, but convenience is worth a lot. I’m guessing that the “Genius Sensor” is the hot ticket (but still more buttons to press). BUT I’ll add this good thing — the sensor cooking automatically gives you two beeps when it’s time to stir or flip what you’re cooking, and then it continues on until it’s finished cooking. That’s nice (since, otherwise, I’d have to press all those buttons again to give it the final 2 minutes of cooking!).Update: Upgraded to 5 stars because the Genius Sensor is AWESOME! I steamed fresh broccoli using this feature and it was PERFECT — the best I’ve ever had at home! So much for guessing when it’s done. Reheating leftovers or making frozen dinners also works perfectly. It gives you the two beeps if you need to stir it, or you can just let it finish cooking. Very intuitive!

When my previous Panasonic Inverter microwave oven broke — the door broke irreparably — after nine years of service, there was no question or hesitation in my mind: I needed not just a new microwave oven, but I needed a new Panasonic Inverter Microwave Oven. Once you have had a Panasonic Inverter Microwave Oven, nothing less will do. Panasonic Inverter Microwave Ovens are more expensive than similar size/power microwaves, but they work so much better.Turbo Defrost is almost life-changing. Imagine being able to take a steak out of the deep freezer, frozen solid, and have it perfectly defrosted with no cooking at all and at about 32F through-and-through, needing just maybe ten minutes on the countertop and then ready to cook, and having that done in less than 15 minutes. Frozen solid to ready-to-grill in about 20 or 25 minutes! Yes, you can! Turbo Defrost is absolutely amazing. But, you do need to input the weight of the meat in 1/10ths of Pounds (or 1/10ths of Kg). So, before I put meat in my freezer, I weigh it and mark that weight on the vacuum-sealed bag. Now, cooking dinner is easier. Take a piece of meat out of the freezer and get it going on Turbo Defrost. Get the grill going. Open the wine. Make cocktails. Rustle up a salad and a side dish of two. And now the meat is ready to grill. Even though the meat was frozen solid, dinner’s done in 40 minutes.Sensor reheat is equally excellent. It reheats any wet food (it detects steam to know when to finish) just perfectly. So what is Inverter Technology? I’m an electrical engineer, so I can answer that for you. It is a continuous stream of microwave energy. In almost every other microwave oven, the magnetron tube is driven by the AC mains electric power stepped up in voltage. This means that the power output of the tube rises and falls 60 times per-second. It’s ok, but the resulting cooking is slower and less consistent. Your food heats up and cools down 60 times per-second. The food doesn’t cool down that much in a 60th of a second, so, overall, it does heat. But the results are slower and inconsistent. An electrical circuit to change AC power into DC power is called an “Inverter”. (Curiously, a circuit to change DC power to AC power is also called an “Inverter.”) An Inverter circuit to work at the voltage required by a magnetron tube (around 15,000V) and at the power levels required (1250W in this oven) is expensive. Because that circuit is expensive and because a microwave oven lacking it still overall works, Panasonic is the only manufacturer — as far as I know — to include an Inverter circuit in order to run their magnetron tubes on DC power for a continuous stream of microwave energy. This produces much more powerful and yet much more predictable and consistent results. Once you’ve had a Panasonic Inverter Microwave Oven, you will not be satisfied by anything else. The consistent and predictable results obtained in a Panasonic Inverter Microwave Oven make it not just a trial-and-error device to crudely reheat stuff but a dependable tool for serious cooking.Anyway, I’m delighted with my new Panasonic Inverter Microwave and strongly recommend them to anyone.
